Prendere Spazio, an installation by Finemateria at Ditroit Dream.

A massive occupation of the exhibition space conveyed by an outsized chair made of polyurethane foam peels.
The work critically notes the social situation of life in Milan, highlighting a greater need for valuable operational spaces in the social system on the part of young people.

A thought that wants to underline the precarious emotional stability , the clogged mechanisms and the professional tension settled in the city. The chair personifies the need for greater breath and industriousness, while the surrounding room materializes the constraint, the stasis.

The work realised for Prendere Spazio by Finemateria is a custom version of the studio’s Please Hold Up chair. It’s entirely made on site using polyurethane foam scraps, in particular the peels, the part that remains in contact with the air during the curing of the material, have been recovered.

The material manifests in its ordinary production the quality of expansion, occupying free space in front of it, with lightness. This chemical reaction synthesises a useful attitude to remember and bring back into our daily practices.

Let’s take space,
Finemateria
